Many Woodshed students are minors. We'd rather explain our actual posture plainly here than bury it in a legal document nobody reads.
What the AI can and can't do
Bounded by the teacher's own note
For teacher-directed accounts: never invents repertoire or assignments
Every practice task traces back to something a teacher actually wrote. The AI doesn't generate new material on its own.
The week ships teacher-first
A draft practice week is only visible to the teacher until they choose to publish it. The AI's step-by-step walk-throughs and practice chat stay inside that published week, and a student's chat is visible to their teacher after the fact, not hidden from them.
Doesn't replace the teacher's judgment
Woodshed drafts from the note. It doesn't decide what a student should be working on. That call stays with the teacher.
Built to be edited, not just accepted
Teachers can change anything in a draft plan before publishing. It's a starting point, not a final word.

Data
What's collected, and why
Woodshed collects what's needed to run the practice loop: the teacher's lesson notes, the practice plans generated from them, and a student's activity marking practice as done. Each account's data is isolated to that teacher and their own students.

Working with minors
We'd rather be honest than overstate this
A meaningful share of Woodshed's students are children. We take that seriously in how the product is built: the weekly plan a student practices from is teacher-reviewed before it's published, the AI works only from what that student's teacher can already see, and a student's practice chat stays visible to their teacher. But we won't claim a formal compliance certification we haven't actually completed. If your school's procurement process requires specific documentation, tell us what's needed and we'll work through it together rather than guess at language here.
